However, against the New York Yankees, Moyer pitched like a 27 year old. He went 8 innings striking out 5 and issuing just one walk, as he left with a 6-2 lead. Moyer surpassed Phil Niekro as the oldest pitcher to be the Yankees. The Phillies win was only their 9th in 26 games, and they remain 3.5 back of the Braves in the NL East.
Is anyone hotter in MLB baseball than the New York Mets. Left for dead in April and the middle portion the Mets, New York’s second team has come storming back to within 0.5 lead of Atlanta. Last night Angel Pagan drove in 3 runs as the Mets won their 6th straight. The leaders of this turnaround are the Mets pitching staff. Since May 17, Mets pitchers are 16-3 with a 2.71 E.R.A.
