Monday Night Big Play!

by Las Vegas Legend, James Jones on September 20, 2010

We’re going to have a big play on tonight’s Saints-49ers game tonight! Both teams will be in bounce back modes. Despite getting a huge opening night victory against the Minnesota Vikings, the Saints offense wwas hardly the premier group we saw last season. They sputtered and looked completely out of sync. Be interesting to see if this was more to do with opening night jitters than a 2010 problem.

The 49ers on the other hand were completely embarrassed by Pete Carroll’s Seattle Seahawks 31-6. The 49ers were the darkhorse by some to reach Dallas and the Super Bowl, however it appears they are still struggling with QB issues and the patience has to be wearing thin with Alex Smith. If the 49ers look horrendous tonight, they will be in for a long season. Head coach Mike Singletary is passionate and demanding, but I must wonder if that wears on his players. No matter how disciplined or demanding you are, the players MUST buy in. An 0-2 start would be that answer.

You want the Saints-49ers winner! I’ve got it!!! When you SIGN UP you’ll get tonight’s winners as well as the entire season of our premium college and pro football picks. You are also get our TRIPLE PLAY WINNERS which are 70-0 over the last 4 seasons!!!!!!!! SIGN UP TODAY and GET INVOLVED!!!

Breaking News!!!! Torre out. Mattingly in.

by Las Vegas Legend, James Jones on September 17, 2010

Just got word from The LA Times that Joe Torre is out as manager, and Don Mattingly is in. According to Yahoo Sports, Torre will step down as manager at the end of the season. It had been speculated that Torre would leave on his own due to the continious soap opera with the McCourt’s divorce situation. I will monitor this situation and keep the blog updated for further developments.

Our premium picks are absolutely on fire right now!! We are 6-1 in our last seven games after last night’s win on NC State. Friday night gives a two games and we will winners on both!!!!!! Please SIGN UP

KU at USM. Cal at Nevada
Both of tonight’s game are interesting matchups. You have two teams in Kansas and California coming off big wins. Kansas really shocked the nation by knocking off Georgia Tech last week, especially after falling the FCS team North Dakota State just the week before. Which Kansas team we will we get tonight? USM has a lot to prove. They were trounced by on national TV in their opener with South Carolina and have not been able to substain the success the program acheived under former head coach Jeff Bower. Both team has big incentive to make a statement tonight!

Cal is riding high after pounding UCLA 35-0 last Saturday night. Jeff Tedford always does an excellent job here, and I believe Cal could compete for the PAC 10 title. Tonight could be a dangerous game. Colin Kaepernick runs the “Pistol” offense to perfection. Should be good one.

Hard Knocks Jets Are a Problem

by Las Vegas Legend, James Jones on September 14, 2010

What an embarrassing performance by the New York Jets last night. Out of an offseason full of unbelievable hype capped off by the HBO Hard Knocks series, last night’s performance was purely dreadful. The Jets had 6 that’s right 6 first downs for the entire game!!! They did not have a successful 3rd down conversion until the 4th quarter. The Jets turned the ball over constantly. RB Shon Greene had two fumbles losing one. And to cap off the night TE Dustin Keller walked out of bounds a yards short of the first down marker on fourth down with less than a minute to go in the game.

While the Jets defense only gave up 10 points, the dumb play was still prevelent on the defensive side of te ball. Antonio Cromartie was flagged for four penalites, one which turned into a 28 yard pass completion on 3rd and 8.

Rex Ryan has a lot of questions to answer. It appears this guy may be somewhat of a loose cannon that has already lost control of a team in just his 2nd season. His antics and constant cussing appear to be a joke among the his own players. Don’t believe me, how about Darrell Revis showing up out of shape and looking like he had been on a Grateful Dead tour for about six months after finally agreeing to a new contract. Jets may turn this around but after Week 1 this team looks like a huge bust.

Great start to the NFL season as our premium picks went 3-1 on the opening weekend capped off by a huge Monday night hammer on the Baltimore Ravens. Minnesota Vikings at New Orleans Saints
What an outstanding opening season matchup on display tonight. Brett Farve was so close to returning to the Super Bowl last season, but a couple of crucial mistakes did the Vikings late in last season’s loss. Despite all of offseason hoopla about whether Favre would return, pretty much everyone knew he’d eventually be back. Some are expecting a drop off, but I expect him to be as good as ever. The only question I have for tonight is how the loss of Sidney Rice will affect Brad Childress’ passing game. Percy Harvin is back, which will help, but the questions regarding his health are still out there. Look for the Vikings to give the Saints a heavy dose of Adrian Peterson.

The “Who Dat” nation is riding high after last season’s Super Bowl win. It’s hard to repeat in today’s modern NFL but if anyone can do it I believe it can be the Saints who have the best leader in the game with Drew Brees. All of Brees’ big targets are back in Marques Colston, Devery Henderson, and Jeremy Shockey. There are still questions on defense which is concerning. The defensive line could be a problem and Sendrick Ellis’ health is vital to that success. The LB unit has improved under Jonathan Vilma’s leadership, but the secondary is a huge question mark. The Saints made a great draft pick in former Florida State Seminole Patrick Robinson. Robinson should step in to help shore up the situation. All in all the Saints will be great again with Sean Payton’s offense as well as Brees. I believe the Saints will repeat in the NFC South. Look for a great one tonight!

Gigantic Matchup Tonight!

by Las Vegas Legend, James Jones on September 6, 2010

I am on fire in the early part of the college football season! We are off to a 3-1 start! Yesterday our players received a big time Sunday winner on East Carolina. What a way for Ruffin McNeil to start off his career as the East Carolina head coach. A dramatic hail mary to win at the buzzer in what I was believe has been the best game so far this Labor Day Weekend was fun to watch.

We have another hammer tonight for the Boise State-Virginia Tech matchup! This is our biggest play of the weekend so SIGN UP and get this automatic winner! By joining Odds Worth Betting you will also get our entire college football and NFL premium picks for the 2010 season as well as the our triple play NFL system and the remainder of the MLB season. These are guaranteed winners, and it has been a true pleasure to make our clients loads of $$$$. GET INVOLVED TODAY!

Here’s a breakdown for tonight’s game.

Boise State at Virginia Tech
What a huge game for both of these programs to start the 2010 college football season. Many college football observers believe that 2010 will be the year that a non-BCS school breaks through to play for the BCS national title. Most believe that team will be Boise State. However, the Broncos MUST win this game! The last time Boise traveled East to open up the season they were smacked by UGA 48-13 in a game that really hurt the creditibility of the non-BCS schools.

Chris Peterson has had the entire offseason to prepare, so you have to be confident he will have Boise in the proper frame of mind to acheive a big win. On the other hand, Frank Beamer and Bud Foster lead a Hokie team that most believe will win the ACC in 2010. They are loaded on offense especially on the ground with RBs Ryan Williams Darren Evans. QB Tyrod Taylor has electric speed and is one of the nation’s most efficient QBs. Taylor had streaks of 105 and 84 attempts in 2009 without and INT! However, the key for the Hokies in tonight’s game lies with their defense. They replace 9 starters and QB Kellen Moore will be looking to exploit a secondary that should be down a few notches from last season. However, the Hokies have tons of speeds and DC Bud Foster is the best in the business. Can Boise State handle Foster’s aggressive attacking style? It will be fun to find out the answer.

FYI: Since the college football season is already underway we will not finish our top 25 countdown. I would rather give you insights on what is going on currently in the world of college and pro football instead of preseason information after the season has already started. I apologize for this! We had yet to finish the top 3 teams, and they were 3. Nebraska, 2. Ohio State, and #1 Alabama. All 3 have great shots to win a national title in 2010, and the Tide has excellent chance to become the first team since Nebraska to repeat.

Sunday College Football Observations

by Las Vegas Legend, James Jones on September 5, 2010

Seat still Hot for Les Miles
Despite getting a win over North Carolina on Saturday night, the seat still has to be scorching hot for Les Miles. LSU nearly blew a 20 point second half lead to a team missing 13 players including stars Greg Little, Shaun Draughn, DaNorris Searcy, Robert Quinn, and Deunta Williams. The Tar Heel offensive line had no business pushing LSU around in the 2nd half. It is also clear that Jordan Jefferson is still not learning from his crucial mistakes after a pitiful INT pass that was thrown up for grabs late in the 2nd half. The only positive for LSU is the play of Patrick Peterson. He was spectacular! The Tigers’ junior had 262 return yards including a punt return for a touchdown. He is defensive players that will and should get serious Heisman consideration in 2010.

Is Denard Robinson the Answer for Rich Rod?
Did Rich Rodriguez finally solve his offensive problems? In a huge day for QB Denard Robinson, the sophomore had 386 all purpose yards and completed all but two throws in Michigan’s pounding of UConn. Last year’s starting QB Tate Forcier never saw a snap on Saturday and it appears his time could be up prematurely. Many were calling for UConn to upset Michigan, but I knew better as our clients picked up a HUGE premium pick win on the Wolverines yesterday. Michigan heads to South Bend next week to take on the Fighting Irish, however Wolverine fans must feel much better about the 2010 season.

Karma in Oxford
Fans around college football were having a fun laugh at Houston Nutt’s and Ole Miss’ expense after a overtime loss yesterday to lowly FCS opponent Jacksonville State in 2 OT. Jeremiah Masoli was not the least impressive as he threw for only 107 yards. This will be a very long season for Nutt and Ole Miss. Many fans including myself feel Nutt is getting what he deserves for taking on a problem like Masoli.

Oklahoma Must Solve Pass Defense Woes
Utah State QB Diondre Borel had a hey day against the Sooners pass defense throwing for 340 yards and 2 TDs! This has to be plenty scary to Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops considering Christian Ponder and the Florida State Seminoles head to Norman this weekend. Ponder saw limited action and completed 12-14 passes for 167 yds and 4 TDs! The Sooners had best get it together. If not the 2010 national title talk could end very quickly.

Very nice start to the college football season yesterday. We went 2-1 with winners on Michigan and Notre Dame. We nearly went 3-0, but LSU’s 2nd half collapse cost us a perfect day! SIGN UP! The NFL starts Thursday, and we will have college football winners all next weekend! Plus the MLB triple play system is on fire! It’s 10-0! And the MLB premium picks are hitting at a 72% clip! GET INVOLVED!

#4 Florida Gators

by Las Vegas Legend, James Jones on September 2, 2010

Offense
Anyone who replaces Tim Tebow is going to be somewhat of a downgrade, but Florida probably couldn’t have found anyone better than John Brantley. This is his 4th year in Urban Meyer’s system. He’s very talented and many expect him to enter the Heisman picture if the Gators have another great season. Brantley will be without Tebow’s safety net Riley Cooper, but has plenty of talent in Deonte Thompson and Andre Debose. The key for Brantley will be to somehow replace the leadership that Tebow provided, but that will be nearly impossible.

The Gators are fine with RB as Demps and Rainey return, and Emmanuel Moody gives them a bulldoze style change of pace. Demps and Rainey are electric and can score from anywhere on the field. Demps averaged 7.6 yards carry last season, and Rainey has rushed for over 600 yards with 6.5 yards a carry. He is expected to get a lot of carries out of Percy Harvin’s old slot position. There is concern about the offensive line, but Florida was helped when Maurice Pouncey returned for his senior season. He should stablize this group.

Defense
I think this is a much bigger question mark than the loss of Tebow. Gone are sack machines Jermaine Cunnningham and Carlos Dunlap from the defensive line, and the replacements are Justin Trattou and William Green. The D-line unit has been a concern to head coach Urban Meyer, because there has been a lack of a pass rush at practice. The LB corps is highly regarded, but inexperienced. Brandon Spikes is in the NFL, and he wreaked havoc on SEC defenses last season. Also, keep in mind that Florida also loses one of the best DC’s in America in Charlie Strong.

However, the secondary is loaded! Safety tandem Ahmad Black and Will Hill may be the best in America and CB Janoris Jenkins should be a shut down corner. In the end, I think the Gators speed and overall talent will allows this group to be okay. But, this unit is a question mark.

Overall
This big offseason football is Gainesville was the health of head coach Urban Meyer. Meyer appears to be okay, and the reports that he is gaining weight is a good sign.

The SEC East will be wide open, but you still have to like the Gators. They have simply recruited the best over the last four or five years, and have arguably the best coach in America in Meyer. They do have to travel to Tuscaloosa to take on the Crimson Tide in early October and face what I believe will be a difficult game in Tallahassee at the end of the season. Look for Florida to compete for another SEC and national crown.

Southern Miss at South Carolina
The last few years South Carolina has opened the college football season on ESPN, and this year is no different. Spurrier loves opening on Thursday because it gives him two extra days to prepare for his annual early SEC showdown with Georgia.

South Carolina Key
Spurrier has been open about his displeasure with Stephen Garcia’s performance and leadership capabilites. Spurrier has even gone as far as to open up the QB competition and has given true freshman Connor Shaw plenty of reps in practice. Spurrier says Garcia will start. but Shaw will see action very early. The key for South Carolina and really the entire season, is for Garcia to step up and perform. He must make good decisions with the football and inspire confidence. If Shaw is forced out early and often, tonight’s game will be closer than expected. And it will also be another ho hum medicore season in Columbia.

Southern Miss Key
South Carolina’s defensive strength is in its secondary, however the Golden Eagles have one of the most electric WRs in America in DeAndre Brown. QB Austin Davis has proven he can make plays with his arm as he completed nearly 70% of his throws last season. Davis must be smart. Don’t challenge Gamecocks corners Stephon Gillmore and Chris Culliver. Get the ball to Brown in space and let him make plays.

Pittsburgh at UtahUtah Key
Utah has some big losses on defense especially at LB and the secondary. Can this inexperienced LB group shut down Pitt RB Dion Lewis? Utah has some talent on the D-line so they will need to get some penetration against a Pitt offensive line that has some major question marks. The Utes will be jacked, and they have won three straight home openers against BCS teams.
Pittsburgh key
It’s time for Pittsburgh to live up to their potential. There is no reason Pitt should not compete for the Big East title this year. They have been major underachievers under Dave Wannstedt. They have one of the nation’s best RBs in Dion Lewis and one of the best DEs in Greg Romesus. This will be a challenging opener on the road. But, I believe Pitt has the better team! They key though is will Dave Wanntstedt have them ready and prepared? I have my questions.

#5 TCU Horned Frogs

by Las Vegas Legend, James Jones on September 2, 2010

Offense
This is as solid of an offensive football team as it gets. Andy Dalton is the experienced leader for the Horned Frogs football team, and he has been everything Gary Patterson could ask for. Last year, Dalton attempted a career high in passes and completed over 61% with a 32-8 TD/INT ration. He has been an unbelievable leader for this football team, and I was completely shocked when he was not considered for the Davey O’Brien award last season, especially since O’Brien was a former TCU star. Dalton will be throwing to the best receiving corps in some time in Fort Worth, led by Sr. Jeremy Kelly and Jimmy Young. TCU also has former HS phenom Skye Dawson, who was rated the fastest man in Texas.

TCU will also be able to run the football in 2010. Despite losing Joseph Turner, the Frogs have a pair of young sophomores waiting in the wings. Matthew Tucker and Ed Wesley should be just fine and both averaged over 6 yards per carry in limited action last season.

Defense
As long as Gary Patterson is coaching TCU, you’d better believe the Frogs will be solid on defense. There is some concern along the defensive line as DE Jerry Hughes is off to the NFL. However, TCU will have one of the nation’s best LB unit’s led by Tank Carder. Carder burst on the scene big time last season and made 1st team All-MWC in just his first season as a starter. Sophomore Tanner Brock also had a huge season in his first season with TCU making 2nd team freshman All-American. There is some concern in the secondary, because the Horn Frogs replace a lot of talent. But with this LB corps and Gary Patterson doing the coaching, TCU will be just fine.

Overall
Year end and year out Gary Patterson does just a phenomenal job. I am actually more shocked that Patterson has not obtained a higher profile job more than I am Boise State’s Chris Peterson.

I think this could be a big season for TCU. Boise State is getting a ton of hype as the non-BCS school that will finally break into the national title game, but everyone is forgetting about TCU. This should provide super motivation.

The Frogs have a gigantic opener at home in Oregon State, who many are expecting to compete for a Rose Bowl berth. If TCU can make a big statement at home, they will get the nation’s attention. Don’t be shocked if TCU is the non-BCS school that goes unbeaten in 2010 and not Boise State.
