Here’s the original note I got from Mr. Smith:

The Kentucky Wildcats have hit a home run by hiring Mark Stoops. Sure it’s not a sexy name, but the guy can coach. He is also what Kentucky needs for this job.
Stoops has tremendous recruiting ties to Ohio area. The Stoops name is big in Ohio since this is where the family grew up. The entire family, Mark Stoops, in particular is well respected with high school coaches in Ohio.
Stoops is arguably the best recruiter on the Florida State staff. I spoke with a friend of mine in the athletic office at FSU just today who told me that the ties Mark (Stoops) are as good as any coach in the southeast. Big benefit for a coach headed to a Southeastern Conference School. Sources at Kentucky have also confirmed to me that Stoops absolutely blew away UK administrators in the interview process. “He sold our people how specificly Kentucky would win big in the SEC.”
Great hire by the Cats. I am excited for them and Mark Stoops.

The University of Miami has just imposed a postseason ban making them ineligible for the conference championship or any bowl game in 2012. Miami is facing NCAA violations due to improper benefits given to recruits by former Miami booster Nevin Shapiro. Florida State will now face Georgia Tech in the ACC title game in Charlotte.
Many this weekend did not expect Miami to pull out of the postseason. However, with this announcement this morning there is no question that Miami expects the NCAA to lay down the hammer.

Hey James Jones here…
As I write this blog post the NBA is about a week into the regular season. The College Basketball season literally tips off tomorrow – November 9, 2012. So in just a matter of days basketball season will be in full swing. My only advice to you, do not get too aggressive too soon with College Basketball.
Like the NBA, give the College Basketball season a couple weeks to settle in before you put any serious money in the action. Play it smart!
Anyway, several weeks back I surveyed my clients and subscribers about NBA and College Basketball. Would they bet it? How they prefer to bet it? Etc. Today I’d like to share the results with you.
After our team received these results – we immediately went into the lab and started analyzing our new and past NBA systems. Our goal, to create a NBA straight bet system based on -110 odds. Finally after hours and hours of analyzing trends, past games, and many other factors we found a winning combination.

My buddy Adam Schefter with ESPN just sent me a note that Ray Lewis is done for the year and possibly his career due to a triceps tear.
I think the Ravens will be okay despite what the media says. Lewis has loss a step and it was obvious yesterday when he did not get close to Cowboys QB Tony Romo.
With Lewis out bettors may find some value in the line with a public overreaction to Lewis being out. On the other hand, I feel bad for Ray. I do not know a single player who loves playing football more. If his career is over, Lewis will find it hard to accept.
