Prior to the All-Star Break, I wrote in these pages that the Pittsburgh Pirates were here to stay. As the season goes along I am more and more vindicated.
With last night’s 1-0 win, the Pirates are a half game up on Milwaukee in the NL Central. And they are winning the way they must….with pitching. The club has an ERA lead of an entire run in the NL Central.
The fans are buying in too. There were over 22,000 in attendance last night in a midweek game against the Reds shows how much this fan base is buying in. The Pirates have always had a great fanbase. They are proud historic franchise when arguably the best new ballpark in all of baseball. This will continue to grow.
Great hitting comes and go. But, if you can pitch you will contend to the end. And yes, the Pittsburgh Pirates will be involved all the way to October.
