Texas Saves the Big 12!

Conference Expansion has taken a pause it appears as the Big 12 reached an agreement yesterday to become a 10 team league as Nebraska has bolted for the Big Ten and Colorado to the PAC 10. The agreement was without a doubt due to Texas in the end staying committed to the conference. Texas is the kingpin of the Big 12, and they hold the league together. This fact was recognized as the Big 12 agreed to grant the Longhorns their own TV network, which Texas AD DeLoss Dodds has been after for years now. They are also were granted, according to the Orlando Sentinel between $20-$25 million. I’d say the Horns came out smelling like a rose! Also, don’t discount the SEC’s courting of Texas A&M. As of Saturday night reports were surfacing that the Aggies had an agreement in place to head to the SEC. That agreement caused everyone to fold their cards and come to the table.

Also, kudos to Orangebloods.com Chip Brown who has been all over the expansion conversation from Day 1. Every story he has broken has been on target as has definitely earned his paycheck over the last few weeks. Brown even one upped ESPN’s Joe Schad yesterday, who broke a story saying the Big 12 was about to fold. At the same time, Brown came through with a story stating that the Big 12 would indeed remain in place with a 10 team league. Schad was wrong and looked like a fool in the process! Congrats to Chip Brown!

You sir deserve a promotion and a raise!
