After Monday night, Braves 2B Dan Uggla is sitting at 22 homers for the year. Now, power and production is one reason that Wren signed him over the offseason (and I sure am glad he has turned it around in that department over the last month), but one thing I have been curious about is how effective Uggla’s power has been….so I looked it up using the ESPN.com game log:

Of Uggla’s 22 HRs, 7 have come via solo during Braves losses (and another in a blowout win vs. the Dodgers). Having solo HR’s from Uggla during a loss is almost as worse as a starter throwing 6 shutout innings but losing the game. It’s great having Uggla’s power in the lineup, but Atlanta needs wins. The Phillies current lead is 8 games in the Division, but the D-backs a sneaking up on the Wildcard…the Braves will need all the wins they can get.
