Weis Leaving KC heading to the Swamp

by Las Vegas Legend, James Jones on January 3, 2011

After only one season back at the professional level, Kansas City offensive coordinator Charlie Weis is heading to the University of Florida in the same role as OC for new head coach Will Muschamp.  Reports surfaced early New Year’s Day and have been confirmed by media around the Gainesville area.  Weis will remain with the Chiefs throughout the postseason.  The Chiefs will play Baltimore in the 1st round of the playoff Sunday at 1:00 p.m.

It is unclear why Weis is leaving the Chiefs after a successful first season running the offense.  Rumors have surfaced of a falling out between Weis and Kansas City head coach Todd Haley.  However, Weis does have a home in Jupiter, FL so that could factor as well.

Weis is very rough around the edges and doesn’t have the best of appearance.  However, he is a solid offensive mind and did an excellent job with KC.  The Chiefs under Weis led the NFL in rushing and was 9th in total offense.  Weis also knows how to get collegiate players to the next level.  He will run a pro style offense and with his development of QBs it should weigh positively in the mind of Florida quarterback John Brantley who is considering transferring.
