Wild Day in Sports

by Las Vegas Legend, James Jones on June 24, 2010

What a wild day in sports yesterday! The United States scored a goal in the 91st minute to advance to the round of 16 in the World Cup. Now I have not followed the World Cup that closely. I am much too busy researching data to continue to make you guys $$$ in this baseball season as well as preparing for the upcoming football season. Nevertheless, yesterday’s victory was arguably the greatest in the history of US Soccer.

Longest Tennis Match in History
The longest tennis match in histroy is still on going between American John Isner and Nicholas Mahunt of France. This is the 3rd day of the match! The 5th set in its entirety has lasted over 7 hours with the two gentleman tied at an unbelievable 59-59. The match will continue today at 10:00 a.m.

What a CWS Game!

I hope you guys are watching the College World Series. This is the last year for historic Rosenblatt Stadium and last night’s game was one of the history books. Many people I talked to who have been attending the College World Series for years believe it was the loudest in the history of Rosenblatt.

With TCU trailing Florida State 7-2 heading to top of the 8th, the Horned Frogs rallied for 9 runs in the 8th to win 11-7. The rally was capped by a grand slam with two outs and a 3-2 count by TCU’s Matt Curry off of FSU closer Mike McGee.

TCU will advance to the play UCLA in an elimination game for the Frogs tomorrow.

Marlins Show Why They’re Losers

The Florida Marlins are one of the worst franchises in all of baseball. This an organization that plays baseball in a football stadium that is attended by about 8,000 people on a good night.

The Marlins are indeed building a new stadium, but in the worst part of Miami at the site of the old Orange Bowl. If Marlins executives think attendance is bad now just wait til this stadium is built in this trash part of town.

The Marlin organization continued their incompetence by firing manager Freddy Gonzalez on Tuesday night. Gonzalez is a guy who just last season led the Marlins to a winning record with the LOWEST payroll in all of baseball. The manager before Gonzalez was none other than Joe Girardi who not being good enough for the Marlins is now managing the most successful franchise in the game the New York Yankees.

Gonzalez could land on his feet at a better place as well. Many of my sources in the Atlanta feel that Gonzalez has a very good shot at replacing Bobby Cox at the end of this season. No matter what happens Freddy Gonzalez is in much better place which is out of the Marlins organization.
