What a matchup Super Bowl Sunday brought us! Congratulations to the Green Bay Packers, who were clearly the better team in tonight’s game. However, an off the field before the game was a big story too me.
This one involves CBS lead NFL color commenter Phil Simms who was nearly in a physical altercation with ESPN college football analyst Desmond Howard at the Super Bowl festivities. Howard was criticial of Tennessee QB Matt Simms and said that “Simms was one of the worse QBs in the SEC.” Guess old dad Phil didn’t take this so well, but why are we surprised?
Chris Simms was a pure premodona while at Texas. Mack Brown was more than thankful to push him out the door and usher in Major Applewhite who was had far less ability but was twice the leader.
Matt Simms this season for Tennessee had to apologize to the entire football team for ripping the coaching staff for making him the backup to Tyler Bray. The situation was best considering that Simms was likely a cancer on the team. When Simms was replaced, Tennessee went on to win their last four games to become bowl eligible.
So, I know where the Simms boys get their attitude from. But, how you can play them when their father has yet to grow up either.
